Dr. Calvo has been practicing dentistry in Las Vegas since 2006. He graduated cum laude from UC San Diego before being accepted to UCLA School of Dentistry. Following UCLA, he came to Las Vegas to continue his post-grad training at the University of Nevada School of Medicine Advance Dental Residency program. There, he received extensive training in advanced dental procedures including implant placement, periodontal and surgical techniques, molar endodontics, and cosmetic dentistry.
"I have a passion for all aspects of dentistry and I am dedicated to delivering a high level of care, service and treatment to all my patients. Many people have a negative view about coming to the dentist. What I enjoy most is not only being able to make a difference in one's oral health and smile but also changing their perspective and outlook on dental care to a more positive and enjoyable experience. I look forward to meeting you.”
Dr. Calvo grew up in the San Francisco bay area. He enjoys playing basketball, snowboarding, traveling and spending time with his wife and two boys.
Dr. Calvo is also a member of the American Dental Association, Southern Nevada Dental Society, Las Vegas Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Abalos has been practicing dentistry since 2009. She graduated from UCLA with a psychobiology major before being accepted to UNLV School of Dental Medicine.
“I wanted to become a dentist because for as long as I can remember, my dad has always had dentures. And I saw first hand how teeth, or in my dad’s case, lack of teeth, directly affects someone’s quality of life and self-esteem. My dad grew up in a country where saving and treating teeth were considered a luxury and most people just had their teeth pulled. My dad always says, ‘If I knew this is how it would be with dentures, I would have tried to keep my teeth.’ Seeing my dad’s regret over his teeth is my motivation to help people keep their teeth, gums and mouth healthy, so that they can avoid living with regret and enjoy eating and smiling”
Dr. Abalos grew up in Southern California, ten minutes away from Disneyland. She enjoys eating, watching her husband play basketball, snowboarding and spending time with her husband and two boys.
Mildred was a dentist in her country, Nicaragua. She practiced as a dentist from 2002-2009. In 2009 she moved to Las Vegas and is now a dental assistant with us.
“I wanted to go into the dental field because growing up I saw my mom studying to be a dentist. Unfortunately, my mom was not able to complete her studies, so I wanted to complete that dream for my mom.”
Mildred loves the surgical side to dentistry, with extractions and implants being her favorite procedures.
Outside of the dental office, she enjoys being with her two daughters and husband. Their favorite thing to do is go fishing. Mildred is also an avid karaoke singer, and loves to sing Air Supply songs.
Sandy has been a hygienist for 25+ years. Originally from Illinois, she moved to Las Vegas in 2006. She and Dr. Calvo worked together at another dental office and mutually enjoyed working together, so it wasn't hard to convince Sandy to join us at SunBrite Dental.
"I decided to become a hygienist because growing up, my neighbor was a hygienist. I saw that she was happy and always seemed to have time to lay out in the sun. I love how hygiene gives me the flexibility and having the best of both worlds of having a family and a career."
Since Sandy has been a hygienist for so long, she is efficient and has perfected making patients feel comfortable in the dental chair. She engages you in casual conversation so that our patients forget they are at the dentist.
Outside of the dental office, Sandy enjoys spending time with her two grandkids and loves all things Disney.
